Africa’s entertainment industry has been abuzz following reports that South African music icon Tyla has signed a multi-million-dollar deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Records.
The speculation grabbed headlines in local media in recent days, with fans congratulating her on the collaboration with the US-based entertainment and sports agency.
However, amid the euphoria, the South African singer stepped in to clear the air, categorically stating that there was no deal between her and the company, which is headquartered in New York.
In a caption on her Instagram Story on 7 July, Tyla said she was "not signed to Roc Nation."
The Grammy Award-winning singer then announced that her new album ‘’A*Pop’’ will be released on 24 July 2026. Roc Nation has yet to comment on the purported deal.
The speculation had gained traction after a digital billboard featuring Tyla lit up New York's Times Square, prompting numerous publications to report that she had joined Roc Nation's star-studded roster and parted ways with Epic Records, another US-based label.
For now, this apparently is not the case. The "Is It Love" hitmaker still appears on Epic Records’ official artist list, suggesting her partnership with the label remains intact.
Fresh off her performance at Afro Nation Portugal, where she had the crowd roaring along to her tracks "Is It," "She Did It Again," and "Jump", the 24-year-old artist is now focused on her eagerly anticipated album ‘’A*Pop’’, with the singer teasing the project online and on stage.
