Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Sunday that "Sudanese brothers" wanted Türkiye involved in efforts to achieve peace in the country and the ongoing war, adding that Ankara would do its utmost to end the conflict.

Erdogan made the remarks in South Africa, where he attended the just-concluded G20 summit.

The conflict erupted in 2023 amid a power struggle between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF, whose recent takeover of Al Fasher, one of Sudan's largest cities, has raised concerns about mass killings.

Türkiye has called for an end to the war in Sudan.
