A programme that brings together experts to address the interaction of African languages with those from Europe held its first session on Saturday in the Türkiye city of Istanbul.
It is part of efforts to facilitate dialogue and knowledge sharing between cultures on the two continents.
The four-week programme is organised by Istanbul University's Center for African Studies Application and Research in collaboration with Istanbul Ticaret University and the Africa Coordination and Training Center (AKEM).
In the first session held on Saturday, expert speakers mostly from Africa provided critical insights on Arab communities in Africa, the Hausa/Pidgin, Yoruba, and Lingala languages, and the cultures and civilizations from which these languages originated.
Certificates will be awarded to participants at Istanbul University at the end of the remaining three sessions.
