RSF attack on hospital leaves at least 22 dead: Sudan Doctors Network
The condemnation comes amid continued reports of abuses linked to the conflict.
Twenty-two people, including the medical director of Al-Kuweik Military Hospital and three medical staff members, were killed and eight others injured in a bombing by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), says the Sudan Doctors Network.
The medical network says the attack on Thursday struck Al-Kuweik Hospital in South Kordofan State.
The medical organisation also informed that at least 12 civilians were injured after the Al-Naam Market in West Kordofan State was bombed.
Condemning the attack, the medical body said it strongly condemns the air bombardment, “targeting a place packed with citizens is a violation of international laws and calls for conflicting parties not to target civilians, markets, and sources of livelihood of citizens,” the organisation wrote in a statement.
History of abuse
The condemnation comes amid continued reports of abuses linked to the conflict.
Witnesses previously told Reuters News Agency that paramilitaries kidnapped children during their takeover of the Sudanese city of Al-Fasher late last year and in other attacks across the Darfur region, in some cases killing parents before taking their children.
Since April 2023, the civil war has killed tens of thousands and left around 11 million people displaced internally and across borders.
According to the Sudan Doctors Network, those injured in the latest attack have been taken to hospital.
