A famous Guinean singer says his children have been kidnapped over the weekend.

Elie Kamano, who lives in exile, said on social media on Sunday that two of his children, aged 14 and 16, plus a 16-year-old nephew and his brother, a gendarme, had been abducted.

"Men in balaclavas entered my home" in the capital Conakry on Saturday night, the singer said in a video.

Few signs of forced entry were visible on Sunday at the singer's home apart from a broken doorknob, an AFP journalist saw.

Security authorities are yet to officially address the matter.

The kidnappings have sparked uproar in Guinea, with exiled opposition leader and former Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo among those condemning the incident.
