Malawian female footballer Temwa Chawinga made history on Wednesday, when the Kansas City Current forward became the first player ever to win consecutive National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Most Valuable Player awards.
Chawinga scored a league-high 15 goals in 23 games this year in the US top flight football league, after producing a league-record 20 goals in 25 games during 2024.
The 27-year-old Malawi international joins Sam Kerr (2017, 2019) as the lone two-time MVP honorees in the history of the league, which began play in 2013.
