US President Donald Trump is set to receive a briefing on Thursday from CENTCOM Commander Admiral Brad Cooper and Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Caine on new plans for potential military action against Iran, Axios reported, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.
Among the options to be presented are a "short and powerful" wave of strikes on Iranian infrastructure, a operation to seize part of the Strait of Hormuz to reopen it to commercial shipping, and a special forces mission to secure Iran's stockpile of highly enriched uranium, Axios reported.
Trump told Axios on Wednesday that he views the current naval blockade as his primary leverage, but has not ruled out military action if negotiations remain stalled.
The White House did not respond to requests for comment.
