Türkiye has strongly condemned an attack by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces on a vehicle carrying displaced civilians in Sudan's North Kordofan state, expressing "deep sorrow".
"This attack constitutes a blatant and grave violation of international humanitarian law with regard to the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure in armed conflicts," Türkiye's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says in a statement on Sunday.
"We strongly condemn attacks against civilians. We reiterate our call for securing safe and unimpeded passage for civilians and the unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance," it says.
Earlier on Saturday, the Sudan Doctors Network, which tracks the country’s ongoing war, reported that a drone attack by the RSF had hit a vehicle carrying displaced families, killing at least 24 people, including eight children, near the city of Rahad in North Kordofan.
