This year's Women's Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, due to kick off on March 17, has been pushed back four months, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said on Thursday.

CAF said in a statement that it had decided to reschedule the tournament to July 25 to August 16 "in the light of certain unforseen circumstances", without giving any details.

Some competing squads had already arrived in Morocco for the tournament which doubles as African qualification for the 2027 Women's World Cup with six slots at stake.

Morocco hosted the last men's AFCON, when Senegal beat the hosts in the final on January 18. The country will also co-host the 2030 men's World Cup with Portugal and Spain.
