The White House says the presidents of DRC and Rwanda will sign a peace deal in Washington on December 4, 2025.

United States President Donald Trump will host the leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo on Thursday to sign a peace agreement, the White House said.

The meeting is expected to build on a US-brokered peace deal reached in June and signed by the two countries' foreign ministers, and an economic framework agreed on in November.

M23 rebel group staged a lightning advance in eastern DR Congo this year, seizing the region's two largest cities and raising fears of a wider war.

Recently, Rwanda's President Paul Kagame expressed frustration, saying that DRC was delaying the peace-signing process.

However, late last week, DRC's President Felix Tshisekedi confirmed he will attend the truce signing ceremony in Washington on Thursday.
