Abdelkrim al-Khattabi: Scholar, warrior,revolutionary
Abdelkrim al-Khattabi was a fearless leader and intellectual force against colonial rule. Educated in Islamic law, he transformed resistance into a full-blown revolution in the early 20th century.

A warrior-scholar, Abdelkrim al-Khattabi rose to lead one of the 20th century’s most remarkable anti-colonial struggles. He stunned the world by defeating the Spanish army at the Battle of Annual, killing over 13,000 troops and seizing vast weapons. Soon after, he declared the Republic of the Rif—a bold, short-lived attempt at self-rule in the heart of colonised Morocco.
