Di Meteorological agency for Nigeria (Nimet) don warn say flash flooding go fit happen for 19 states, and dem don partner with NEMA to make action plan.

Di Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) talk say 19 states across di country fit experience flash flooding.
For one advisory wey dem release yesterday, NiMet say heavy early rains fit cause surface runoff and flash flooding because di ground don dry and hard, so water no fit properly soak inside.

Di states wey fit be affected na Zamfara, Nasarawa, Kwara, Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti, Delta, Imo, Anambra, Enugu, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Rivers, Edo, Ondo, and Bayelsa.

NiMet say wetin fit happen include flooded roads, traffic wahala, damage to houses, farmlands and infrastructure, blocked drainage, light cut, telecommunication disruption, and higher risk of injury and water-borne diseases.

Di agency advise people to clear blocked drainage and dey check weather and flood alerts.

NiMet also warn motorists and pedestrians make dem no try drive or waka through flooded areas.
Di agency ask di right authorities and stakeholders to strengthen coordination, preparation, and emergency response to reduce flood problems.

“Community wey get information na community wey prepare. Know di risks and take action early,” di advisory talk.

Di Federal Government don already warn say 14,118 communities for 33 states and di Federal Capital Territory (FCT) get serious flood risk for 2026.
Di states include Abia, Adamawa, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, and Kano.
