Di two unions, wey be part of Nigeria Labour Congress, write letter wey dem date April 30, 2026, wey NASU General Secretary, Peters Adeyemi, and SSANU President, Mohammed Ibrahim, sign, and dem send am to Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
Di union leaders tok say, “Even though we see di letter about removal of Consolidated Non-Teaching Tools Allowance, but dem no give us any new offer wey pass di 30 percent allowance wey dey inside di letter wey dem withdraw.”
According to JAC, dia members don give dem power to act if government no finish negotiation by April 30.
“Becos of dis, as di agreement no finish as at April 30, 2026, and no new offer, di strike go start by 12am midnight on May 1, 2026,” di letter tok.
Di unions insist say di strike must happen becos government no fit use better talk solve di matter.
“We dey inform di Federal Government… say becos government fail to stop di strike by agreeing to our demands, all our members… go begin total and comprehensive strike action by Friday, May 1, 2026,” Adeyemi and Ibrahim add.
Dis strike go stop administrative and support work for federal universities, and people dey fear say ano round of wahala don start for Nigeria university system, wey don dey face plenty strike action for recent years.
