President Bola Tinubu don give green light for new Nigeria Police Academy campus for Erinja, Yewa South Local Government for Ogun State, plus special N15bn take-off grant to build the place.

One statement wey dem sign on Monday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, talk say this approval follow the Nigeria Police Academy (Establishment) Act, 2021, wey allow the school to get many campuses like university across the country.

“Di money go come from TETFund’s 2026 budget and go use build important things like classrooms, students hostels, and training equipment for the new campus,” the statement add.

According to Onanuga, dem choose Erinja for the new campus after one big meeting wey include Minister of Police Affairs, Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, officials from Federal Ministry of Education, Inspector General of Police, and Executive Secretary of National Universities Commission.

Di meeting check things like how many students dem fit take, money wey dey, quality of learning, and wetin Nigeria Police Force need for long-term training—especially as dem dey recruit more people now.

Di Presidency say Tinubu believe this expansion go “help strengthen school management, modern police training, and national security.”

Before now, Nigeria Police Academy only get one campus for Wudil, Kano State.

Section 3 of the Police Act allow di Academy, with their Governing Council oversight, to “open campuses, colleges, faculties, schools, and units as dem need, as long as National Universities Commission approve am.”

For June 2025, House of Representatives talk say make dem spread the Academy, and tell Tinubu and the Governing Council to follow the 2021 Act by opening campuses for all six geopolitical zones for Nigeria.
