Turkey and Nigeria don agree to build one big military training center for Nigeria, as part of their joint plan to help Nigeria strong better for security.

Di deal happen when Nigeria Defence Minister, Christopher Musa, and im Turkey counterpart, Yasar Guler, talk for side of Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026.

According to one statement wey come out on Sunday from Defence Ministry’s Chief Information Officer, Queeneth Iheoma-Hart, the training center go serve as long-term place for training people. Nigeria don already find one good place for coastline to build the permanent center.

She talk say dem go also provide one temporary site so dat work fit start quick quick.

Undis dis arrangement, Nigerian military pipo go receive special training for areas like Special Forces operation, fighting terrorists, intelligence work, how to stop drones and IEDs, plus UN pre-deployment exercises.

Di statement tok say, “Defence Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retired), lead one high-level Nigerian delegation to meet with Turkey Defence Minister for Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2026.

“Di delegation include Chief of Air Staff, Chargé d’Affaires of Nigerian Embassy, Defence Adviser, and senior officials from Defence Ministry and Nigerian Embassy for Turkey.

“Training and capacity building: Turkey propose structured training wey fit grow for Nigerian military for areas like Special Forces, counterterrorism, intelligence gathering, anti-drone and anti-IED, plus UN training before deployment.

“Dem agree say first set of soldiers go go Turkey soon, plus Turkish language lessons and field training.

“Both sides agree to build one major military training center for Nigeria wey go be long-term excellence center; Nigeria go provide temporary training site and don already choose one good coastal place for permanent building.”

Apart from training, she talk say di partnership go include technology transfer, defence industry collaboration, and joint development of military abilities.

Meanwhile, Nigerian government announce plan to send at least 200 military pipo go Turkey for training.

Defence Minister, Musa on Saturday talk say Nigeria and Turkey don reach agreement to immediately send 200 Nigerian Special Forces go Turkey for training.

While dey talk for side of 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum (ADF2026) for Antalya, Turkey, Musa talk say Turkey don already give 200 training slot for Nigerian military.

“We get Special Forces training agreement. Turkey don agree to take 200 of our Special Forces trainees, so as soon as I return, we go send dem here for training.

“We go continue to do plenty things. Dem go get exercises. Di first exercise go happen later dis year. So, for many areas of defence, we go work together,” Musa talk.

He also announce say Nigeria and Turkey don agree to work together for defence equipment production and military technology transfer.
