Nigeria dey call for more private sector investment and stronger partnerships to help di country tackle growing climate risks and build communities wey fit survive.

Di Minister of Environment, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, make di call for Abuja at one stakeholders’ engagement on Nigeria’s National Adaptation Plan (NAP) with development partners and private sector.

Di minister, wey di Permanent Secretary of di ministry, Dr Salihu Aminu Usman, represent am, talk say to implement di NAP go require innovative financing, technology transfer, stronger institutions, and sustained investment.

E talk say di plan dey provide framework for identifying climate risks, reducing vulnerability, and integrating adaptation into national and subnational development planning.

According to am, di NAP dey set priorities for critical sectors, including agriculture, water resources, health, infrastructure, energy, biodiversity, forestry, disaster management, and human settlements.

Lawal talk say di government still dey committed to create enabling environment for private investment through policy reforms, institutional coordination, and partnerships wey go reduce investment risks.

E urge participants to identify practical solutions, develop bankable adaptation programmes, and strengthen collaboration to move di NAP from planning to implementation.

Di Permanent Secretary talk say successful implementation of di plan no fit happen by government alone.

E talk say private sector get critical role to develop climate-resilient technologies, mobilise investment, strengthen value chains, expand climate insurance, and finance resilient infrastructure.

Di government don also outline several initiatives to drive climate action, including Climate Change Act, Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC3.0), Energy Transition Plan, National Clean Cooking Policy, and National Carbon Market Activation Framework.
