Di Federal Government don issue fresh flood alert, dey warn communities for 24 states and di Federal Capital Territory (FCT) say flood fit happen between September 27 and October 10, 2026.

Di centre talk say di areas wey go affect fit get plenty water for ground, rain, water wey dey run fast for surface, drainage wey don full and river wey dey rise, wey fit cause flood during di forecast period.

E classify di communities wey go affect into three categories – Critical Risk, High Risk and Moderate Risk Watchlist – based on how flood fit affect dem.

States wey get communities under Critical Risk category na Benue, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Adamawa, Bauchi, Taraba, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo, Ekiti, Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Oyo.

For Ekiti, di areas wey go affect include Ado-Ekiti, Ijero, Ikere, Ekiti Southwest, Ekiti East, Ise/Orun and Ekiti West.

For Lagos, di areas include Apapa, Badagry, Epe, Eti-Osa, Ikeja, Ikorodu, Ikoyi, Lagos Island, Lekki, Ojo, Orile Agege, Surulere, Agege, Alimosho and Kosofe.

Dem put FCT under High Risk category, with Abuja Municipal, Abaji, Asokoro, Bwari, Garki, Gwarinpa, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Kubwa, Maitama, Nyanya and Wuse among di areas wey dem list.

Oda states wey get communities under High Risk category na Nasarawa, Plateau, Bauchi, Taraba, Adamawa and Kebbi.

Di centre also put communities for Bauchi, Borno, Gombe, Yobe, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa on di Moderate Risk Watchlist.

E advise residents for Critical Risk areas make dem dey watch flood immediately, check evacuation routes and protect vulnerable households and important property.

Dem also warn residents make dem no settle, park, trade or store goods for active floodplains, wetlands, riverbanks and low-lying drainage corridors.

For High Risk areas, di centre advise authorities and residents make dem clear drainage well well, monitor culverts and watercourses, and report heavy rain, waterlogging, dam release and river wey dey rise.

E urge residents for all di areas wey affect make dem follow evacuation instructions, keep children away from floodwater and no waka or drive through water wey dey flow.
