Nigeria Presido don agree on security partnership with America

President Bola Tinubu don agree make dem set up Nigeria delegation for the US–Nigeria Joint Working Group on Security, as one step to strengthen cooperation with America to tackle security challenges for the country.

The team setup follow one recent visit wey big Nigerian delegation under the lead of the President’s Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, do to Washington DC.

Ribadu go lead the multi‑agency team wey include top officers from security agencies and foreign affairs institutions.

Members of the working group, according to the statement wey Bayo Onanuga (the Presidential aide on media and publicity) sign on Thursday, include:

· Minista for Foreign Affairs: Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar

· Minista of Defence: Mohammed Badaru Abubakar

· Minista for Interior: Olubunmi Tunji‑Ojo

· Minista for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management: Bernard M. Doro

· Chief of Defence Staff: Gen. Olufemi Oluyede

· Director‑General, National Intelligence Agency: Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed

· Inspector General of Police: Kayode Egbetokun

The statement also add say Malama Idayat Hassan from the Office of the Presidential Security Adviser (ONSA) and Mr. Paul Alabi from the Nigerian Embassy in the US go be the Secretaries.

President Tinubu request make the officials work hand‑in‑hand with their American counterparts to make sure all the security agreements wey dem reach during the visit get proper implementation.

Dem expect the US–Nigeria Joint Working Group to coordinate both countries’ efforts to fight terrorism and to support regional security and stability.

For the past weeks, security cooperation don become more urgent after some public statements from the US President.

Recently, US President Donald Trump label Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over alleged violations of religious freedom and threaten say dem fit take military action “if the attacks on Christians no stop.”

Trump’s words don put more pressure on the Nigerian government to show a strong response to the insecurity problem.
