Nigerian government and Labour Union bin clash yesterday over how dem take use di money wey dem save from removing fuel subsidy.

Government explain say dem use di savings to pay for Ways and Means, service foreign debt, increase federal workers salary, give students loan, and oda tins. But labour say dem no gree, accuse government say dem dey "economical with di truth" and demand verifiable evidence to back up di claim.

Im talk say: "Somebody ask about di subsidy savings, where e go?

"I don hear dis question plenty times, and guess wetin? E be valid question. Di combined effect of subsidy on fuel, and wetin I like to call subsidy on FX, na about five percent of GDP, so if you remove both, you save money.

"But saving money no be di main goal, na to remove di distortion and corruption for di system wey be more important. But di money saving still dey important.

"So, where di money go? And for few days, you go see detailed analysis because we believe say we get duty to explain wetin we dey do to Nigerian people. Dat na wetin transparency mean. But for now, I fit give una some highlights," im talk.

But di Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), di Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC Trade Union Side), and one senior official from Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) challenge Mr. Oyedele to give full account of di subsidy savings and explain how dem use am.
