He reveal say di operation, wey di 8 Division Strike Force of Nigerian Army, Sokoto dey lead, start for di early hours of March 20, as troops move enter Turji’s camp deep inside Kagara Forest.
But during di advance operation, two combat support vehicles develop mechanical fault near Maberaya village for Isa Local Council of Sokoto State, wey make troops stop their movement temporarily.
Di military source reveal say heavily armed bandits from Turji’s camp set ambush, using high ground and forest areas as cover, and di troops quickly answer dem with heavy firepower, engaging di bandits and killing many of dem for di process.
“Three soldiers and one personnel of di Department of State Services (DSS) get wound during di skirmish and dem quickly evacuate dem to di 8 Division Military Hospital, Sokoto, for treatment,” di source add.
Meanwhile, authorities don dismiss reports wey claim say over 150 bandits drown for boat accident for Sabon Gida area of Sokoto State.
“Di news wey dey circulate say over 150 bandits drown for boat mishap for Sabon Gida area na fake report,” di source tok.
Di National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) Area Manager for Sokoto, Mr Bello Bala, also confirm say di report na fake, adding say di River Sabon Gida area no dey passable for now.
