Nigerian government don release no less than N322 billion to 1.2 million students as loan and upkeep money under Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
Education Minister Tunji Alausa, wey talk this thing yesterday, explain say the money reach that amount as at August 8.
Alausa still reveal inside statement wey hin Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Ikharo Attah, make say Federal Government go review the laws wey dey govern unclaimed dividends and accounts wey nobody dey use before dem go transfer any money to NELFUND.
He explain say the decision dey follow President Bola Tinubu hin directive wey say make dem only use legally cleared funds wey Economic and Financial Crimes Commission don recover to make NELFUND hin money strong.
The minister talk say the review necessary to make sure say the plan to transfer money no go give dem legal wahala.
He add say only recovered money wey dem don legally clear and wey no get any court case or other problem go fit enter the education loan scheme.
Alausa still talk say the President make am clear say unclaimed dividends and money for accounts wey nobody dey use should also be considered as one of the ways to get money for NELFUND, but e must follow the laws wey dey there.
“As una hear me for the last press briefing wey follow last Federal Executive Council meeting, Mr President mention say we need to make NELFUND get plenty money and make e last for future,” na wetin he talk.
