President Bola Tinubu don declare say to wipe out child labour don become national development priority, and e warn say the menace dey undermine education, poverty reduction, economic growth, food security, human capital development and national security.

The President talk yesterday for Abuja for the National Dialogue on Advancing the Implementation of Nigeria's National Child Labour Policy and National Action Plan (2026-2030), where e officially launch the 2024 National Child Labour Survey Report and the National Policy and National Action Plan for the Elimination of Child Labour (2026-2030).

Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, the President talk say the Federal Government go intensify efforts to tackle the root causes of child labour exploitation.

"Every nation dem dey judge by how well e dey protect im children. One child wey dem force into labour instead of attending school lose more than education. That child lose opportunities, confidence, health and the chance to fully contribute to national development.

"For this reason, the Federal Government consider the elimination of child labour not just as labour issue, but as national development priority. E connect to education, social protection, economic growth, poverty reduction, food security, human capital development and national security," the President talk.

He talk say im administration go continue to strengthen labour administration and inspection systems, child protection mechanisms and interventions wey aim to address poverty, unemployment, inadequate access to quality education and social exclusion.
