Di agency say di suspects fool dia parents for different villages by promising dem educational support and back-to-school programmes, before dem take di pikin go under false pretence.
Di arrest happen afta Binta Adamu Bello, wey be NAPTIP director-general (DG), raise alarm about di activities of suspected traffickers wey dey target communities wey get crisis. Bello say di syndicates dey move from one troubled community to anoda, dey carry pikin under di guise of helping dem with education.
According to di NAPTIP DG, di agency don set up special squad inside dia investigation and monitoring department to recover di trafficked pikin and make sure dem prosecute those wey do am.
Among di pikin wey dem rescue, three pikin dem carry from one parent for Kajuru for Kaduna go Onitsha for Anambra state. Anoda pikin dem find for di hand of one clinical staff for Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Onitsha.
Di nurse wey dem question on Tuesday, tell NAPTIP sey she get di pikin from one big orphanage for Abuja for 2023 afta she pay N771,000. Di agency say dem no release di name of di orphanage.
Di first batch of pikin wey di special squad recover, dem carry dem from communities for Benue and Nasarawa states and move dem go orphanages for Abuja and oda states. Di NAPTIP DG say some of di pikin dem sell to people wey dem no know, under di guise of adoption, afta money don change hand.
