Public service workers under di Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council don declare three-day warning strike from October 2 to 4, 2026, because of wetin dem call worsening economic and mental hardship wey dey affect workers and dia dependants.

Di council direct dia national and state leaders to mobilise workers for di industrial action, wey dem schedule to start at midnight on Friday, October 2, and end on Sunday, October 4.


Di directive dey inside one circular dated October 1, 2026, and di National Secretary of di JNPSNC, Olowoyo Gbenga, sign am, and e urge di council leadership to make sure say di information reach workers across di country.


According to di circular, di decision follow di Federal Government alleged failure to address requests wey dem previously submit to President Bola Tinubu inside one letter dated September 21, 2026.

Di council talk say, "Consequent upon di above, di strike shall start with effect from midnight on Friday, 2nd October, 2026 to Sunday October 4th, 2026."

Di circular also call on public servants for federal, state and local government services to join di strike, and stress say di action na to draw attention to di difficulties wey workers dey face across di country.


E talk say, "In di same vein, all public servants in di services of federal, state and local governments are to join di warning strike because an injury to one is an injury to all, most especially, all workers, dia dependants, vulnerable and hapless Nigerians dey groan terribly under di present economic hardship."


Di council further describe di situation as increasingly difficult for workers, and add say, "Di economic and mental hardships are becoming unbearable and frustrating."
