President Bola Tinubu don order say 100,000 police officers wey dey attached to VIPs, including politicians, make dem deploy to help tackle the rising insecurity, especially the recent yawa of kidnappings.

Data show say Nigeria wey get pass 230 million people, get near 400,000 police officers, and quarter of dem dey assigned to VIPs.

Na this big difference, conjoined with the recent widespread insecurity, make President Tinubu take dis decisive step.

The head of state chair one important security meeting for the country's capital Abuja on Sunday, November 23.

Nearly 380 people abducted in one week

This action come after almost 380 people, including schoolchildren and worshippers, don get kidnapped for four different states inside the last one week.

Senior security officials attend the Abuja meeting, among dem the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), wey dey in charge of internal security functions.

Others wey dey there include the country's army chief and the inspector-general of police.

According to statement from Tinubu's Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, VIPs wey need special protection go receive armed officers from the paramilitary Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

Recent abduction incidents

For the last week, about 379 people don get kidnapped for Kebbi, Kwara, Niger and Borno states.

On November 17, gunmen enter one government girls' boarding school for Kebbi, kill the school's deputy principal and abduct 25 students. Twenty-four of the students still dey missing, while one manage to escape and come back safely.

One day later, gunmen raid one church for Kwara state and abduct 38 worshippers. On Sunday, President Tinubu announce say all the church-raid victims don get freed. The details about their abductors no immediately come out.

In another mass abduction, more than 300 schoolchildren and staff get kidnapped from a Catholic school for Niger state.

Trump's threat and Nigeria's reaction

On Sunday, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) say 50 of the learners manage to escape from their abductors and return to their families.

The latest abduction happen on Sunday, November 23, when 13 children get kidnapped while dem dey work for farm in Borno state. One victim manage to escape from the captors and come back home safe, according to authorities.

These incidents come after President Donald Trump's threat say the US go deploy soldiers to secure Nigeria from violent acts — an intervention wey Abuja reject.
