Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan don receive World Health Organization (WHO) Europe Award for how Türkiye dey help Palestinians and for the role wey e play to make medical evacuations from Gaza possible.
WHO Regional Director for Europe, Hans Kluge, present the award for am during the 11th Turkish Medical World Congress wey hold for Ankara on Wednesday.
For him speech for the ceremony, Erdogan criticize the international community for dey quiet about the destruction of hospitals and the killing of patients, health workers, and infants for Gaza over the past two years.
'E no go easy for the world to change from the kind reality wey, for two whole years, dem just dey look as dem dey bomb hospitals for Gaza and as patients, health workers, children, and even innocent babies for incubators dey die,' he said.
Erdogan add say the world go turn 'a paradise' the day humanity go dey share the collective joy of saving one life and go celebrate every newborn wey arrive safe like say na their own happiness.
'Na wetin we dey work for be that,' he said.
Innovative and realistic efforts
He further say the health workforce don grow by 288 percent since 2002, and nearly 100,000 new staff, among them more than 57,000 physicians, don get recruited for just the last one and a half years.
He add say 80 percent of public hospitals don renew or rebuild, with 794 new hospitals wey raise public bed capacity to 173,000. Qualified beds don increase from 7,000 in 2002 to 122,000 today, with total capacity expand from 164,000 to 271,000.
Erdogan also emphasise say reconstruction still dey for the provinces wey earthquake hit, where 109 health facilities with more than 5,100 beds don complete, raising total capacity from 23,733 to 27,503 beds across 11 provinces.
He stress the need for Türkiye to move forward for scientific research, pharmaceuticals, and medical device production.
'Despite internal and external obstacles, I believe we will achieve in health technologies what we achieved in the defence industry,' he said, adding that Türkiye remain committed to supporting all innovative and realistic efforts wey go push its health care goals forward.
Turkish Head of Communications Director Burhanettin Duran also comment on the award for Turkish social media platform NSosyal, saying the recognition 'serves as a testament to Türkiye’s humanitarian diplomacy shaped by our President’s vision.'
He further say: 'Despite the grave situation in Gaza, the continuation of humanitarian aid, the safe conduct of medical evacuations, and the voicing of the oppressed don possible through our president’s personal follow-up, will, and leadership. His long-standing humanitarian sensitivity toward the Palestinian issue still dey generate strong impact both for the region and for international platforms.'
Erdogan say Türkiye don overhaul its health care system for the past 23 years, turn am into wide, high-quality and affordable network wey dey serve the whole population.
He note say the country now dey deliver first-class services to 86 million people with the support of more than 1.47 million health personnel.
