Iran's armed forces threatened on Wednesday to target Israeli missions worldwide if Israel were to attack Tehran's mission in Lebanon, a military spokesperson said.

Abolfazl Shekarchi, the spokesperson of the Iranian armed forces, said live on television that "if Israel commits such a crime, it will force us to make all Israeli embassies around the world our legitimate target."

On Tuesday, Avichay Adraee, an Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli military, said it "warns representatives of the Iranian regime who are still in Lebanon to leave immediately before being targeted", giving them 24 hours to leave.

Iran has been under a joint US-Israeli bombardment since February 28, resulting in the deaths of more than 40 senior Iranian government officials, including the country's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Deadly strikes

More than 1,000 civilians have also been killed in the attacks, which triggered a retaliation by Iran.

The US had accused the government of Khamenei of oppressing citizens, and building nuclear weapons, allegations that Iran rejected.
