Senegal's President Bassirou Diomaye Faye will hold talks with International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva this week, Bloomberg News reported on Monday citing an email statement.

They will discuss "recent economic developments and Senegal's economic reform programme", the report added.

Reuters could not immediately verify the report.

Senegal has grappled with a heavy debt burden after a significant amount of funds owed to external creditors was apparently hidden from the public during the former administration of President Macky Sall.

That discovery has made it difficult for Senegal to secure funding from international lenders.
