A passenger died after suffering a medical emergency aboard a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight from Kenya's capital, Nairobi, to Nigeria's commercial hub, Lagos, on Tuesday, October 6, the airline announced in a statement on Wednesday.
According to Kenya Airways, the passenger became unresponsive about 20 minutes before the aircraft was due to land in Lagos. The medical emergency occurred at approximately 9:20 pm local Nigerian time (20:20 GMT).
The airline said its cabin crew administered first aid in accordance with their training and followed established emergency procedures.
The aircraft landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at 9:41 pm (20:41 GMT), where medical personnel were waiting. Following further examination, the medical team confirmed that the passenger had died.
Airline sends condolences
Kenya Airways expressed its condolences to the deceased passenger's family and friends.
The airline said it was providing the necessary support in coordination with the passenger's family, local authorities, and aviation regulators.
"Kenya Airways upholds and respects the privacy and dignity for all involved," the airline said.
