United States forces don start training for Nigerian troops on unmanned aircraft systems, combat casualty care, and other military skills as part of efforts to make security partnership between both countries stronger.

The training happen for one operating location for Bauchi State and e be part of bigger US-Nigeria security cooperation mission wey dey aim to improve military ability, readiness, and long-term partner capacity.

The report talk say the training cover Combat Lifesaver and Tactical Combat Casualty Care instruction, weapons familiarisation, camouflage, water treatment and testing, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics, and unmanned aircraft systems.

“U.S. and Nigerian forces dey do series of training events for Operating Location Bauchi, Nigeria, wey dey aim to share military knowledge, strengthen partner capacity, and build relationship between soldiers from both countries.

“Training wey U.S. and Nigerian forces do for Bauchi include Combat Lifesaver and Tactical Combat Casualty Care instruction, weapons familiarisation, camouflage, water treatment and testing, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics, and unmanned aircraft system training,” the report talk.

One logistics officer wey serve for US Army Southern European Task Force, Africa and wey be operations officer for OL Bauchi, Capt Gabriel Feingold, talk say US units give Nigerian leadership list of training options wey dem choose wetin dem want.

The report talk say unmanned aircraft systems generate special interest among Nigerian forces, with Sgt Mark Murphy, wey be intelligence analyst for 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, dey lead about 10 members of Nigerian Air Force Special Forces Regiment through the training.

The session start with about 45 minutes of teaching before Nigerian personnel get hands-on training on how to operate the aircraft.

Murphy still teach participants techniques for using UAS and how to use information wey the systems gather for military operations.

“Dem really happy to get hands-on time with am,” Murphy talk, and e add say Nigerian personnel show interest to get more training on the system.

The US report talk say the joint exercises pass just technical and operational skills, e create chance for American and Nigerian soldiers to build relationship and improve how dem fit work together.

Feingold talk say the interactions dey especially important for lower levels of both forces.

“E help build relationship between soldiers and the partner force, especially for the lower levels,” e talk.

The report add say US and Nigerian personnel still dey play basketball and volleyball when operation work and weather allow, wey give more chance to make their relationship stronger.
