Nigeria and United States don sign one framework agreement wey aim to deepen US investment for di West African country mining sector, Nigeria solid minerals minister Dele Alake talk on Thursday.
· Di agreement, wey dem sign for New York on Wednesday by Alake and US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, cover geological data, mineral exploration, mineral development and processing, infrastructure, and technical capacity building.
· Di deal follow Washington push to strengthen ties wit mineral-producing countries and diversify supply chains for critical minerals wey dem dey use for technologies like electric vehicle batteries and renewable energy infrastructure.
· Nigeria estimate say im mineral resources worth about $700 billion and e dey find way to diversify di economy away from oil.
· "Nigeria no fit remain as source of raw materials while oda people dey chop most of di value. We want more local processing, quality jobs, stronger skills and greater opportunities for Nigerian businesses," Alake talk for one statement.
