Ugandan authorities don dey partly restore internet from Saturday after President Yoweri Museveni win a seventh term for the January 15, 2026 elections.

People report say dem fit reconnect to the internet around 11 pm local time (20:00 GMT) on Saturday, and some internet service providers send messages to customers say the regulator order them to restore services but exclude social media.

'We don restore internet make businesses wey depend on internet fit resume work,' David Birungi, spokesperson for Airtel Uganda, one of the country's biggest telecom companies, told Reuters. E add say the state communications regulator don order say social media must remain shut down.

State-run Uganda Communications Commission talk say dem cut off internet to curb 'wrong information, fake information, election fraud and related risks.'

Museveni declare winner with over 71% of the vote.

The electoral body for the East African country on Saturday declare Museveni the winner of Thursday's poll with 71.6% of the vote, while his rival, pop star-turned-politician Bobi Wine, get 24%.
