Dem don reason between President Tinubu and the Senate about the matter of withdrawing police wey dey protect important people (VIPs).

On Wednesday the Nigerian Senate show worry about wetin some senators call selective implementation of President Tinubu’order to remove police wey dey give protection to VIPs as part of effort to fight the security problem wey the country dey face.

The senators complain say while dem don remove police wey dey protect some of dem, other big people still dey carry on enjoy the protection from police.

This complaint come as President Tinubu dey insist make everybody follow the original order wey he give to withdraw all police attached to VIPs across the country.

Tinubu also tell the Minister of Interior, the Inspector General of Police and the head of the NSCDC to make sure say the police wey dey do special duty get alternative arrangement so that nobody go comot without protection.

Some senators vex say the order never full ground even though the IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, don promise to arrest any police officer wey disobey the order. The senators call for make dem remove police from everybody so the matter go fair and equal.

While dem dey complain that some members of political office holders still get permanent police bodyguards and security, the senators ask make dem remove them too so that everybody go dey inside the same rule.

The complaint come from motion wey Senator Abdul Ningi, wey dey represent Bauchi Central, put forward for the chamber.

Senator Ningi tell the Senate say the only police aide wey dey with am don get withdrawn on Wednesday morning, while other big people for the country still dey enjoy this favor of using police as their guards.

Ningi say e don see teams of ministers, children of political office holders, Chinese businesspeople and even musicians wey dey move around with police escorts.

Although Senator Ningi talk say e fit protect himself, he believe say make dem withdraw police from everybody so that the policy go fair.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, wey preside over the session, say the Senate leaders discuss the matter on Tuesday and dem dey try to convince the Presidential Villa to exclude senators from the list of people wey the withdrawal order go affect.

He say dem get confidence say President Tinubu go hear them and, God willing, dem go fit get back their police aides.

But President Tinubu insist on full compliance with the original order to withdraw all police attached to VIPs nationwide.

Tinubu, wey give the order in a statement before the Federal Executive Council meeting for Abuja, say as the country dey face kidnapping and terrorism, all security forces suppose dey deployed to protect Nigerians generally.
