President Bola Tinubu don order military and police make dem recruit extra thousands of personnel to tackle serious security problems across the nation.
Tinubu announce these measures for one statement wey he release on Wednesday.
He talk say police go recruit additional 20,000 officers, so the total number go reach 50,000. He also approve make dem use NYSC camps and other service camps as places to train the new policemen.
Tinubu give order make policemen wey dem withdraw from VIP protection be redeployed to conflict areas after dem get retraining.
He also give the DSS (Department of State Services) permission to send specialised forest rangers into the bush and to recruit extra staff to flush out criminals wey dey hide for the forests. “Bad people no go get hiding place again,” Tinubu yan for the statement.
The measures follow recent attacks wey happen for Kebbi, Borno, Zamfara, Niger, Yobe and Kwara, where many people die and hundreds were kidnapped.
Tinubu ask the National Assembly to review laws wey go allow states to set up their own police, and he also urge religious organisations to seek protection during their gatherings.
He promise say his government go support any state wey decide to form security outfits to protect people from terrorists.
Tinubu also tell states to rethink putting boarding schools for remote places wey no get adequate security.
He urge herders to adopt ranching and to hand over illegal weapons wey no suppose dey with them, to help end the clashes between herders and farmers.
Tinubu praise security forces for rescuing 24 schoolgirls in Kebbi and 38 worshippers in Kwara, and he promise to continue efforts to free others wey dem kidnap, including students wey dem carry away in Niger State.
“I sympathise with the families wey lose their loved ones and I salute our brave troops, including Brigadier‑General Musa Uba,” Tinubu talk.
